ombré wedding at The Pearle Hotel, Burlington

Alex and Lee were originally set to get married at La Maquette in Toronto but when Covid hit everything stopped, as it did for everyone. Come 2021 and as things began to go back to normal they decided to make the change to accommodate a bigger celebration and chose The Pearle Hotel and Spa in Burlington. And so glad they did, as we all needed the time and space to be together. Their wedding was one of the first weddings on site as the hotel was still in the finishing stages as the newest addition to the Pearle Weddings chain. To say it was worth the wait is a huge understatement. The venue itself is a lux spot on the Burlington waterfront, the space is decorated with elegant, modern and incredibly complimenting and soothing colours and textures [after all it is called hotel + spa]. With dusty blue wall sconces in the main reception spaces to serene contemporary art on the walls behind the ceremony spot. A perfect venue for a wedding.

Colour was always the floral vibe for Alex and Lee. During out planning calls we decided upon an ombré install as Alex expressed a love for bright pinks and red but not really sure how to incorporate them both without them taking over the space. At the original Toronto venue we had a large tree that was in the ceremony space that we planned to adorn in an ombré garland, as well as 3 outdoor pillars. Given that The Pearle did not have an outdoor spot for this vision to be reproduced we came up with individual arrangements that would come together to recreate that dream but in a more contemporary style rather than a garden like setting.

All the florals were repurposed at the reception to create a luxurious family style install with sandstone pillar candles mixed alongside the pink party happening in the arrangements. In a space as modern and minimally designed as The Pearle Hotel, the florals can really add to the space and instil an overall mood and that is just what we did.

The result was epic and captured by the talented Laura of Laura Clarke Photos. Two abundant floral arrangements with blooms ranging from ivory, blush, pink, hot pink, red and deep crimson with greenery accents for a whimsy touch. The aisle was full of floral meadows and were a mix of whispy asparagus fern and accent blooms in pink and red within pink baby’s breath clusters.

This fun and colourful palette was a direct expression of who Alex and Lee are as a couple. They’re fun, lighthearted and full of life. They love spending time with their friends and family and through these colourful flowers their wedding day came full circle to showcase their passion and vibrant love for each other. And let me tell you— cold and gloomy Canadian winter days don’t last too long as I often think of this day and smile—absolutely one of my favourite days and couples.
