A Modern Garden Wedding at Langdon Hall | Jackie & Andrew

Langdon Hall is one of my favourite Cambridge wedding venues. So, I was thrilled when Jackie and Andrew’s wedding planner, Shealyn Angus, reached out to me. The couple wanted to work with a local floral designer for their June wedding. Luckily, since I’m based in Waterloo, fate brought us together!

Jackie and Andrew’s wedding celebration spanned two days, beginning with a rehearsal dinner at Cruickston Park and culminating in their elegant nuptials at Langdon Hall. The country estate offered an idyllic setting to complement the couple’s vision of a modern English garden. From the vows to the al fresco dinner, Ontario showcased a beautiful June day, allowing the couple and their guests to soak in the venue’s exceptional outdoor settings. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect backdrop for bringing their floral concept to life.

Designing an Outdoor Ceremony with Local Florals

Jackie and Andrew envisioned wedding florals that married the refinement of an English garden with the playfulness of modern designs. They wanted every arrangement to feel organic, with movement and a focus on full blooms. They also wanted to support local, women-owned farms and flower collectives wherever possible. I sourced peonies from Four Boys Flower Farm in Waterloo, poppies from Petit Flower Farm in Waterford, and other bits from The Millgrove Flower Hub.

A chuppah adorned with asymmetrical florals was the focal point of the couple’s orchard ceremony. I intentionally varied each grouping to create a playful and relaxed effect. I focused the largest peach and blush blooms on one side at the top and placed an arrangement of smaller flowers in ivory, orange, soft blue, and butter yellow in the opposite corner. Meanwhile, unstructured floral meadows lined the aisle, creating an immersive, garden-like setting.

A Garden-Inspired Reception in the Summer House

The reception took place in Langdon Hall’s Summer House, an open-air venue ideal for al fresco dining in the warmer months. The design layered organic textures, a colourful tablescape, and personal details, including a handwritten card from Jackie and Andrew at each guest’s place setting. Vintage-inspired dishware and tasseled menus added finishing touches that felt both elegant and charming.

I lined the centres of the long tables with petite arrangements in sculptural pastel blue and pink bud vases, filling them with full-bloom peonies, poppies, roses, and marigolds. On the ceiling, deep pink bougainvillea and greenery drew the eye to the timber beams while creating a romantic garden ambience. And of course, I couldn’t forget my signature touch: celebratory flowers gracing the couple’s dinner plates.

Kind Words from Jackie and Andrew

Still in AWE of what Andreea created for our wedding. She elevated our vision beyond anything we could have imagined, and each arrangement felt like a work of art. The table florals were breathtaking, and the hand-threaded orange trees on the dance floor were extraordinary. Our chuppah also took my breath away – it was beyond stunning and made our ceremony feel even more magical; everything was 10/10. We feel so lucky to have worked with someone so talented AND passionate about her craft.
